It’s that time of year again when you might be looking to cool yourself off with a refreshing frozen beverage. How about some Frosé? This frozen rosé drink has been around for a few years, and you’ll see wine bars offering this wine slushie during the summer months.
Most of the frosés that I’ve sampled have been super sweet, and I was curious to see if I could create a drink with less sugar and more flavour.
I’d suggest getting a bottle of darker rosé to give you more colour – a Tavel would work great, and it may depend on your preference. I think just using frozen Rosé might not give enough of a depth of flavour so adding fruit like strawberries or watermelon will be delicious.

Jen’s Beyond the Corkscrew Frosé
- One bottle of Rosé
- 1 1/2 cups of strawberries
- 4 teaspoons of sugar
Mash up the strawberries and add the sugar, and 1/2 cup of rose into a small bowl. Let the mixture macerate until the flavours maximize for a couple of hours at room temperature.
Taste for sweetness and add a bit more sugar if needed.
Use an 8X8 glass dish or a dish that will easily fit into your freezer. Place the macerated strawberry mix and all but 1 cup of the rosé into your dish, and place this into the freezer overnight.
When you are ready for your frosé, remove your dish from the freezer and put the contents into a blender. You may find you need to add a little rosé to help create the right slushy consistency. Blend up your drink, pour into some glasses.
